Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
First things first! I'm grabbing all my equipment: the soap base, essential oils, dried herbs, molds, mixing bowls, measuring spoons and cups, stick blender, thermometer, spatula, safety gloves and goggles, pipettes, labels, and my trusty cutter. Let's get organized!
Step 2: Prepare the Herbs
Next, I'll prep my dried herbs. I'm using lavender and rosemary today. I’m going to crush them a bit to release their lovely scents. This is going to make my soap smell amazing!
Step 3: Melt the Soap Base
Time to melt my soap base! I’m chopping up the glycerin soap base into small cubes and placing them in a mixing bowl. Then I’ll pop it into the microwave for about 30 seconds. I’ll keep checking until it’s fully melted. Gotta be careful not to overheat it!
Step 4: Infuse with Herbs
With my melted soap base ready, I'm going to stir in the crushed herbs. I’ll make sure to mix them thoroughly with a spatula. The colors and scents are starting to come together beautifully!
Step 5: Add Essential Oils
Now it's time for the fun part! I’m going to measure out my essential oils with a pipette. I’ve decided on a blend of lavender and tea tree oil today. I’ll add them to my mixture and stir well. My soap is going to smell heavenly!
Step 6: Check the Temperature
Before pouring the mixture into the molds, I’ll check the temperature with my thermometer. It should be around 130°F to make sure it's not too hot. Perfect!
Step 7: Pour into Molds
I'm ready to pour! Carefully, I'll fill my molds with the soap mixture. I’m going to fill them just to the top, making sure not to overfill. This is so exciting!
Step 8: Let it Set
Now it’s time to let my soap cool and set. I’ll leave them for a couple of hours at room temperature. I can hardly wait to see how they turn out!
Step 9: Unmold the Soap
After the soap has set, it’s time for the big reveal! I’ll carefully push the soap out of the molds. They are looking so good and they smell fantastic!
Step 10: Cut the Soap Bars
Next, I’m going to cut my soap into bars using my cutter. I’ll make sure the cuts are nice and even. I’m really proud of how these turned out!
Step 11: Label Your Bars
Last but not least, I’ll label each soap bar. I’m using some fun stickers and writing down the scent and ingredients. Now they’re ready to be gifted or used!
Step 12: Enjoy Your Creation
With everything done, I can finally enjoy my homemade herb-infused soap! I’ll take a nice long soak in the tub and use my beautiful soap. What a satisfying project!
